How much do tin ceilings cost?
Ceilings are priced by the square foot for field patterns and the
linear foot for cornicing. The type of pattern selected determines
the actual cost, meaning that patterns with a deeper relief are
more expensive than those with a more shallow depth mainly because
the grid system used to install them is more complicated. Generally,
ceilings go from $30-60 per square foot, which includes materials,
hand-painted tin and installation. Cornicing is $30 per linear foot.
Can painted tin be purchased without installation?
Yes, our hand-painted tin is $20-40 per square foot plus the cost
of shipping. Please visit our wholesale website to place an order. We will secure the materials
for shipping, but be advised that during that installation process
tin panels should be moved and handled minimally.
Can I get a tin ceiling if my existing surface
is plaster?
Sure, we can work with virtually any surface for tin ceiling installation.
How are ceilings installed?
Depending on the surface and structure of the home, we determine
the best means of installation. Frequently a base-layer of plywood
is applied to the ceiling then a grid system of furring strips is
put into place and tin panels are nailed to the grid work.
Can painted tin be used outside, in the bathroom,
or as a backsplash?
Yes, all of these applications are possible. We can press many of
our patterns out of stainless steel and use paints that are specific
for moisture protection. Backsplashes are typically finished with a
clear water-proof resin to protect the metal and finish.
Will my tin ceiling rust?
No, the only enemy of a tin ceiling is moisture. So assuming you
have no consistent water leaks for the duration of several years
your tin ceiling will endure for over a century.

What color ceilings can I get?
We offer fifteen base color choices: Autumn Blaze, Sage, Bronze, Ivory, Alfresco, Khaki,
Olive, Burgundy, Rustic Red, Sun Yellow, Firemist, Sedona Bronze,
Classic Black, Silver Plum, and Canteen; each with a selection of
hand-painted finishes. We also offer some specialty finishes at no additional
cost—for example, Copper Verdis, Antique Bronze, and Aged Pewter.
(Please see the finishes page for photos of each of these color choices.) We find most people love these color choices, but if you're looking for
something specific we can match any paint sample or Benjamin Moore / Sherwin
Williams color by number for an additional color matching charge.
Can I see samples of your paint finishes to help me choose?
All of our finishes are pictured at our finishes page. When you have narrowed your selction down, you can order sample sets on our online store. Because of the work that goes into producing these samples, we have to charge for our sample sets. Sample sets are $15 for seven colors, or $22 for twelve. This cost will be credited back to you when you place an installation order with us.
What is the process of having a ceiling installed?
We are a small company and enjoy working closely with our clients,
even when some of them are far away from us. First, we ask that you have some basic information
ready to discuss.
What room do you want the ceiling in? and what is the square footage of that space? (This can be determined by multiplying the length of the room by the width of the room) A good place to start visualizing the possibilities of your ceiling is the Ceiling Planner tool on our site. For ceilings requiring special attention, we can provide a detailed sketch for your approval.
We can assist you in deciding which designs would best complement your room by considering your style (and historical accuracy if relevant) and the amount of space we have to cover. We will discuss the look you hope to achieve with your new tin ceiling and help determine a paint finish that is right for you.
As the design phase continues we will coordinate the installation with our schedule and your life. The average time for installation of a 12 ft x 16 ft ceiling is 3 days. We pride ourselves on working in a neat and timely fashion.
We require a 50 % deposit on all jobs and collect the remainder upon completion.
